“When we started Palladium Properties, we envisioned a real estate company with heart, devoted to a strong sense of community and philanthropy,” said Krista Klees, owner and founder of Palladium Properties.

With literally hundreds of nonprofits just within our small mountain community, how are we to choose just one out of so many worthy causes? Our solution was “Palladium Promises”- a festive event with food, wine, and an impressive and influential group to raise awareness for non-profits near and dear to those around us. Participants gather together and pledge their “Palladium Promise”- to make a donation to a charity of their choice.

THE EVENT

The event took place at Chair 9 in The Little Nell this holiday season. Five charities from the Roaring Fork Valley were highlighted at the event. While nearly 70 women gathered at Chair 9 to enjoy a wonderful meal representatives from each organization gave a short and compelling speech about their organization. With so many compelling causes and personal stories there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Palladium Promises is unique in that every attendee was given a Promise Card in which they were able to donate any monetary amount to any or all organizations. The organizations that attended this year were The Hope Center, Response, Lucky Day Animal Shelter, The Art Base and English in Action.

THE ORGANIZATIONS

The Aspen Hope Center – The Hope Center was established in June 2010 to meet the unmet mental health needs in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley. Those gaps in service were identified in a comprehensive study conducted by the University of Colorado Denver Depression Center in 2009.

Response – Since 1983, response has been helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault within Pitkin and western Eagle counties in Colorado. The mission of Response is to is to support, educate and empower survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Lucky Day Animal Rescue – Living in a place like the Roaring Fork Valley it is given that there are always furry friends around, whether they are dogs, cats or the occasional bear. Lucky Day Animal Rescue has made it their mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find forever homes for animals at risk, regardless of age or breed, issue or amount of time needed, in conjunction with providing educational services and spay/neuter programs to the community.

The Art Base – The Art Base fosters creative expression in the visual arts for all ages and abilities—providing a base of operations for artists in the Roaring Fork Valley through education, exhibitions and events that support and stimulate the vitality of our community.

English in Action – English In Action helps adult immigrants improve their English language and leadership skills. It also helps them to become more involved in the community by building lasting relationships and friendships with English-speaking volunteers.

TAKEAWAY

All of the organizations highlighted at this years event are unique and invaluable non-profits within our valley. Palladium is proud to announce that we raised $19,720, nearly triple what we raised last year, for all five organizations collectively.
