BAY FRONT ESTATE IN HARBOR ACRES SELLS FOR $7 MILLION

SALE IS SECOND SIGNIFICANT UP-MARKET TRANSACTION IN A WEEK

A waterfront estate in Harbor Acres closed last week for $7 million, marking the second time in a week that a significant bay front property near downtown Sarasota has been sold.

Listed by Kim & Michael Ogilvie—agents with the Main Street office of Mayfair International Realty members Michael Saunders & Company—the property, located at 1452 Hillview Drive, was only on the market for just over three months before being placed under contract by the buyer. It was listed for $7.9 million. John Woodward, of Sarasota Real Estate Group, represented the buyer.

Just a week previously, on February 25th, a Siesta Key property was sold for $10 million with agents from Michael Saunders & Company facilitating both sides of the transaction.

With over 6,700 square feet of space, the Hillview Drive property is a masterpiece of contemporary design, poised on 206 feet of southern-facing shoreline; and set on 1.5 acres, amid strands of gracious old oaks and majestic palms on one of Sarasota’s most desirable streets.

Designed by Skirball Group Architects and built by WG Mills in 1997, the home remains as dramatic, crisp and timeless in its design as it was back then. The smart floor plan—with walls of glass, volume ceilings and beautiful expanses of travertine floors—opens to a glamorous bay front terrace, creating a magnificent indoor/outdoor space that allows for elegant entertaining on a grand scale; even as the home’s more intimate spaces make it ideal for casual family living.

Upon entering the home via its grand staircase, one’s eyes are immediately drawn to the bay and toward the infinity-edge pool, whose cascading waterfall appears to be spilling into the azure waters of Sarasota Bay. The home includes five bedrooms—including a two-room interior suite—a banquet size dining room, large kitchen with an informal dining area; and garage parking for 8 to 10 cars.

This sale represents the latest in an on-going string of successes for Kim & Michael Ogilvie. With sales volume that topped-out at more than $50.2 million in 2012, the Ogilvies were last year’s top selling team at Michael Saunders & Company. The pair was also 2012’s top-producing team overall in the Sarasota Association of Realtors®. A year earlier, in 2011, the Ogilvies were similarly recognized by both Michael Saunders & Company and the Sarasota Association of REALTORS® for being their top-producing team.
