Gulf-To- Bay Estate On Casey Key Sells For $6.2 Million

Transaction Is The Key’s Largest Residential Property Sale In Over Three Years

Mayfar International Realty members, Michael Saunders & Company in South West Florida have annouced that a waterfront estate on Casey Key sold on August 29, for $6.2 million.  The gulf-to-bay property, located at 2016 Casey Key Road, was listed by Deborah Beacham of the Longboat Key South office of Michael Saunders & Company; and sold by Mark McCann and Camille Schwabe, with the firm’s Siesta Key office.  The sale, which was the largest on Casey Key in over three years, is viewed as further evidence of the re-energized market for luxury properties on the barrier island just south of Sarasota.

Last week also saw the sale of a vacant 2-1/2 acre parcel—in the same area of Casey Key—for $3.55 million.  That gulf-to-bay property was listed by Tony DiCerbo and sold by Michael Moulton, both also with Michael Saunders & Company.

“Sales on Casey Key have been steady, with 14 closed transactions thus far this year,” says Beacham, an authority in waterfront properties on Casey Key.  “Four of the sales were above $3 million; with this latest sale of $6.2 million establishing what I believe will be strong forward momentum for the rest of the year.”

“At the moment, Casey Key has six pending sales and one “active with contract” listed at $10 million, that is expected to close by month’s end,” Ms. Beacham adds.  “Showing activity on the key during July and August has been nothing short of “season-like.  In August, I had 21 showings over 13 days with 11 different buyers; and July’s activity was equally robust, with 19 showings over 10 days.   Casey Key is clearly back on the radar screens of high net worth buyers who want an idyllic environment—not unlike living on a private island—yet with easy access to every imaginable amenity, including the cultural and culinary venues, country clubs and airports of Sarasota and Venice.”

Built in 2010 along a stretch of Casey Key coveted for having the barrier island’s deepest boating water, the estate that sold on 29th August —known as Casa Al Mare—enjoys 230 feet of Gulf frontage,  114 feet of bay frontage, a beach cabana with rooftop deck, boathouse; and private dockage for a large vessel.  Inside the home—whose gracious interior features marble columns, multiple fireplaces and beamed vaulted ceilings—are two master suites and four guest suites.  The master bedroom wing enjoys magnificent gulf and bay views; and exudes a spa-like ambiance with beautifully-appointed his-and-her baths and dressing areas.

“After spending more than a year searching up and down Florida's east and west coasts, the buyers of this property arrived in Sarasota, and fell in love with the area,” says Mark McCann, who along with Ms.Schwabe represented them in the sales transaction.  “They ultimately chose Casey Key as it afforded them the privacy and natural beauty they wanted, plus close proximity to Sarasota's restaurants, cultural events, and easy fly-in, fly-out convenience.
