Michael Saunders Is Ranked Among Real Estate’s Most Influential Leaders

Swanepoel POWER 200 Ranking Includes The Most Powerful Industry Executives In North America

Michael Saunders, founder & CEO of the Southwest Florida real estate brokerage that bears her name, has been named to the newest Swanepoel POWER 200—the annual ranking of the 200 most powerful people in residential real estate throughout North America.   Hers is the 109th position in this year’s ranking.

Saunders, a Florida native who grew up on Longboat Key and launched her company in 1976 with a small office on Sarasota’s St. Armands Circle, now presides over one of the largest independent brokerages in the Sunshine State.  The company, which currently consists of 24 offices with more than 625 agents and 150 staff members, serves the entire Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte Counties region of Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast.

“I am humbled to be included in the company of so many illustrious leaders of our industry,” Ms. Saunders said from her company’s corporate headquarters in downtown Sarasota, Florida.  “I am convinced I made the list because I have circled the globe relentlessly for years to make sure the world’s leading brokers are as aware as we are of our precious jewel of a Gulf Coast lifestyle.”

As part of her long-term plan to maximize outreach connecting international buyers with her sellers’ properties, Saunders has long held key roles with several of the world’s most prominent brokerage networks.

The Swanepoel POWER 200 is compiled using both subjective and objective criteria to acknowledge that a person can be extremely influential in an industry without necessarily topping the list on certain data points—such as financial resources or geographic reach—that the survey also takes into consideration

“What makes the Swanepoel POWER 200 so unique is that it integrates into one list all the different types of leaders in the real estate industry, even though they serve in different sectors of our industry,” says Stefan Swanepoel, editor-in-chief of the report.  “Some have entrepreneurial power or financial strength, some hold high office and have positional power, while others have political clout or personal power.”

In addition to being recognized as a global real estate expert, Swanepoel is a best-selling author and motivational speaker. With over 25 books and reports analyzing the strategies, shifts and changes impacting the residential real estate business, he is widely recognized as a leading authority on emerging industry trends.  His books have been featured on over 18 bestseller lists including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Amazon.com.
