MSC FOUNDATION AWARDS YEAR-END GRANTS

27 NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS ARE TAPPED FOR CHARITABLE GRANTS

The MSC Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Mayfair International Realty members Michael Saunders & Company, awarded its 2013 year-end charitable grants on Friday, January 17th 2014.

Formally presented at the firm’s Lakewood Ranch office, the grants were accepted by leaders of 27 not-for-profit organizations who operate at the grass-roots level in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte Counties. Drayton Saunders, the firm’s president and foundation vice president, presided over the grants presentation.

Grant recipients in this latest cycle of charitable outreach by the MSC Foundation’s include ALSO Youth, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Sun Coast, Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County, Charlotte County Homeless Coalition, Charlotte Local Education Foundation, Children’s Guardian Fund, Inc., Community Coalition on Homelessness/Manatee County, Community Youth Development of Sarasota County, Englewood Helping Hand, Inc., Family Partnership Center, Feeding Empty Little Tummies (FELT), Foundation for Dreams, Inc., Gator Wilderness Camp, Habitat for Humanity Sarasota, Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County, HOPE Family Services, ITN Sarasota, Jewish Family & Children’s Services, Just for Girls Academy, Manatee County Habitat for Humanity, Manatee Education Foundation, Miracle League Manasota, The Players Inc., Safe Place & Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC), Selah Freedom, Inc., Venice-Nokomis Rotary Club and Yummy Stuff Club, Inc./Children’s Healthy Pantry.

Each charitable grant is made possible through the generosity of participating agents, who voluntarily donate a portion of their commissions on each real estate transaction; as well as by the company’s staff and leadership team, who contribute through voluntary payroll deductions throughout the year. In exchange, each contributor may petition the foundation for grants to the local not-for-profit organizations of their choice.

Once in June—then again at the end of each year—the MSC Foundation awards the combined proceeds to several not-for-profit agencies who work tirelessly at the grass-roots level to curb such scourges as hunger, homelessness; and domestic, sexual and child abuse. The foundation’s governing council—made up of contributors from each of the company’s divisions and branch offices—carefully vets each charitable organization to ensure that every donated dollar reaches its intended recipient with a minimum of administrative overhead.

Now in its third year, the MSC Foundation has channeled tens of thousands of dollars in humanitarian grants to dozens of not-for-profit organizations whose activities are consistent with its goal of providing shelter, sustenance, education and a path to self-sufficiency for the least fortunate members of the communities served by agents of Michael Saunders & Company.
