This home was purchased four years ago for $625,000, a price that allowed the new owner to undergo a major renovation. That renovation, though extensive, preserved many Victorian details including ceiling medallions, pocket doors and fireplace.
Some of the less appealing features were eliminated such as the spiral staircase in the middle of the living room, which made the room awkward and difficult to furnish. That stairway was replaced with a traditional one at a more convenient location, and now leads to the newly-finished lower level consisting of two bedrooms, a full bath, laundry, storage area and garage. The main level, also updated, has another bedroom, parlor and bath.
The landscaping was also enhanced to take advantage of the sunny location and proximity to Quesada Gardens from where the famous wild parrots can be heard. “It’s a nice sound,” Bonnie commented.
The property is located in The Bayview, a neighborhood which has enjoyed increasing popularity over the past few years. That, along with the massive renovation, has set the price tag for this Victorian home at a very modern $1.05 million.
“The market in the Bayview is unbelievably hot. People are discovering the views, the weather, the proximity to the airport, downtown by train and the South Bay,” according to Bonnie. “So while the neighborhood retains its diverse character, it is getting the attention of more buyers.”
