Julie Jones of Mayfair International Realty members Premier Estate Properties takes a look at the number of Canadian buyers investing in Fort Lauderdale real estate. She says:

"A further endorsement of the Canadians love affair with Fort Lauderdale is evidenced by the opportunity that Canadian Banks are taking in following their customers to Florida. According to Florida Trend and Ken Thomas, an independent bank consultant and economist in Miami, Canadian banks are keen to have representation in Florida.  South Florida is one of the five best banking markets in the nation for retail, wealth management and international trade services.

So many Canadians spend a significant amount of time in the Florida sunshine with second homes, businesses and real estate investments.

From my office with Premier Estate Properties on Las Olas, I have the pleasure of working with a number of Canadians who especially seek ocean and water front luxury residences.  I noticed that Canadians from Quebec and Montreal tend to start their residence with a condominium as they ‘stick their toes in the warm waters’ of South Florida. A couple of years after the initial investment, it is not unusual for them to trade up for a single-family residence such as a spectacular oceanfront property, two of which I have listed at 2924 North Atlantic Boulevard and 3060 North Atlantic Boulevard. Both of these properties are ready to move into and are located directly on Fort Lauderdale beach where there are just 48 residences.
